TN (Twisted Nematic) LCD display screen is a relatively traditional and widely used type of liquid crystal display technology.
From a working principle perspective, TN type liquid crystal molecules exhibit a twisted arrangement when no electric field is applied, and light passing through the liquid crystal layer undergoes twisting. When an electric field is applied, the alignment direction of liquid crystal molecules changes, thereby controlling the transmittance of light. This principle enables TN display screens to display images.
In terms of response time, TN display screens have certain advantages. It usually has a fast response time and can quickly switch images, which is advantageous for some scenes that require quick refresh of the screen, such as games. Generally speaking, the response time of TN display screen can reach about 1ms-5ms, which can effectively reduce the phenomenon of ghosting.
However, TN displays also have some obvious drawbacks. It performs poorly in terms of visual angle. When viewing the screen from the side, the color and contrast of the image will be significantly distorted, which may affect the visual experience in scenes where multiple people are watching the screen at the same time. Moreover, the color reproduction of TN display screens is relatively low, and they cannot present rich and realistic colors like other high-end displays. The colors may appear somewhat pale.
In terms of application scenarios, TN displays are still widely used in some price sensitive and not particularly demanding fields due to their low cost, such as low-end computer monitors, electronic calculators, etc.
